“Tia Tago” is our mom, our angel, our first love! Ever since we were little kids all we saw our mom do, was give. Her philosophy was that if someone in front of her was in need and she didn’t do anything about it, then she was in need as well! For as long as we can remember our mom was always paying someone else’s electrical bill or sending money, food, and/or clothes to the Dominican Republic to be distributed amongst those in need. So much she gave, that she became “Tia Tago” to those she touched. She also had a very soft heart for the elderly as she served as a Nurse’s Aid for over 20 years. Every day she came home from work, all she talked about was how much she loved them. She’d tell me how she combed one’s hair or how she made another one that was sad, laugh. Then there was her weakness, children! She’d always tell us how children were angels who needed to be loved and protected, unconditionally. As much as she told us this, she really didn’t even need to because her beautiful green eyes and soft ways, spoke that truth all by themselves. On September 18, 2016 our beautiful mother, “Tia Tago”, was called to serve her mission from a higher level of consciousness, from the beauty of heaven’s eternity. Though she fought lung cancer until her last breath, and she left us a bit too early, to us she will always be our warrior, our fighter, our winner. She lived her life constantly spreading love, kindness and compassion and that in itself is a life fulfilled with mission, integrity, and purpose. Her body may have left us, but her soul’s determined mission to help, is very much alive and with us. Please help keep her legacy alive, and help heal poverty in any way you can.
